The Crucible is a private club. To attend, you must be a member or a guest of one.
Crucible membership – $40 per person per year
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Must support the general purposes of the club
- Must pay annual dues
- Must not be registered of the Department of Justice Registered Sex Offender List
Membership to The Crucible is open to adults of any gender who:
- Promote the practice of Safe, Sane, and Consensual BDSM Activities and/or Risk Aware Consensual Kink activities
- Are members of an alternative lifestyle, for example: leather, BDSM, polyamory, swinging, etc.
- Have not found a welcoming environment in traditional social organizations due to gender, sexual orientation or lifestyle choice
Recruiting
The Crucible does not actively recruit new members. Individuals who are interested in learning more about the Crucible or the BDSM lifestyle in general may attend our monthly outreach event, Dungeon 101. Prospective members may attend Dungeon 101 without a membership or a member host.
Confidentiality
Membership in The Crucible is considered confidential.
Only current managers and Board of Directors of The Crucible have access to the membership records.
Application Process
Each applicant for membership shall apply on a form approved by the Board of Directors which shall provide that the applicant agrees to abide by the Bylaws of the Corporation and any other Rules or Regulations adopted by the Board of Directors.
The application shall state the legal name, birthdate and address of the applicant.
Use of false names, nicknames, scene names, etc. on applications is prohibited, and may result in a delay in processing your application, or a denial of membership.
All applicants for membership will be screened via the Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website (https://www.nsopw.gov/en). At the time of application, the prospective member shall submit dues payable for the current year. Dues must be received before the use of the Crucible. Membership dues are $40 per person per year. Memberships are valid for 364 days from the time of approval.
Each individual must complete an application and pay dues; there are no couples or other group memberships.
The Board of Directors of The Crucible will approve or deny all membership applications.
Memberships must be purchased online and cannot be purchased on premises at The Crucible.
Membership cards
Membership cards are only distributed in person at The Crucible; cards are never mailed. Please bring a current government issued photo ID in order to pick up your card. We also recommend that individuals bring a copy of their email receipt (a digital copy is sufficient) in case additional verification is needed.
Guest Policy
Members may bring up to 1 guest per event. Guests must pay the guest admission fee, fill out a guest waiver, and provide valid government issued photo ID, and submit to being screened via the NSOPW.
Guests must be accompanied by a current member in good standing.
The Crucible Management reserves the right to limit the number of guests admitted to an event in order to prioritize admission of members.
Guests may visit two times in one calendar year before they will be asked to join as a member.
Membership FAQ
Do I have to be a member?
You must be a member or the guest of a member in order to attend events at The Crucible. The exception to this is our monthly Dungeon 101 outreach event.
Can I join at the door?
No. Applications for new memberships must be filled out in advance. Existing members may renew their memberships in person.
How much is a yearly membership, and how long are they good for?
Memberships are $40 per person per year. Memberships are valid for 364 days from the time your application is approved. The expiration date will be printed on your card.
Do you have couples or group memberships?
No. each individual must have their own membership, and will be assigned a unique membership ID number.
Crucible memberships MUST be obtained BEFORE you come to the club.
NOTE: Important: When you charge your membership, your receipt will come from Southwest Social Scene.
