BR Gateway is a special Black Rose meeting intended for individuals (18 and older) who are either new to BDSM or new to the DC kink scene. BR Gateway is designed to facilitate getting your questions answered. Attendees at this event tend to be from diverse ages, backgrounds, genders, orientations, and more — everyone is welcome.  The meeting is an informal discussion and there is nothing you have to bring. Casual or business attire is more appropriate, scene wear is not appropriate.https://br.org/br/gateway/
Gateway attendees receive a coupon for discounted admission to Dungeon 101 and a Black Rose Tuesday night class.

Dungeon 101 serves as an introduction into public BDSM play. If you have never attended a public BDSM play event, it can be a bit daunting. The Dungeon 101 class is specifically designed to make you feel comfortable at your first public BDSM dungeon event. Attendees and presenters come from a diverse cross section of the community, all orientations, genders and kinks are welcome. You are welcome to come alone, bring a friend or bring a bunch of friends.

From 7:30 until 8:00 PM will be social time. Starting at 8:00 PM, there will be a talk on scene etiquette and an opportunity to learn about the dungeon itself. Directly following will be a "Exploratorium" event until 11:00 PM where you can try and/or experience many different kinds of play scenes. The idea is for it to be a fun evening for everyone!

No advance tickets are available for this event -  please plan to arrive early and pay at the door.

More experienced folk come on out after 11:00 PM for Open Play. We ask that everyone except presenters keep their toy bags put away until Open Play starts to avoid confusion. No scenes or play permitted during the Exploratorium.

This is an outreach event, you do not need to be a BR or Crucible member to attend.

In order to foster a learning environment, there is no sex allowed at Dungeon 101, and no alcohol is sold. This applies all night, even during open play after the Exploratorium has concluded.

Introduction to Self-Suspension

Hitchin' Bitches DC is incredibly excited to announce that for the November Skill Share, we will be joined by Qatherine, all the way from Boston, for a special class! A passionate self-suspender, circus artist, and experienced instructor, Qatherine will be teaching Introduction to Self-Suspension to a lucky 12 folks who are ready to get some air time! If you currently meet or will meet the prerequisites in the description below, reach out ahead of time via DM to our fetlife account so that we save you a spot.

In self-suspension, a single person takes the role of rigger and rope bottom, allowing for an autonomous experience in the air. While similar in some regards to partnered suspension, self-suspension presents unique challenges and opportunities. This introductory-level class is intended for people with some experience tying rope, but little to no experience self-suspending. We will learn hangers, upline techniques, and lockoffs, which are the building blocks for suspension. Students will then be guided through a basic face-up self-suspension with options for transitions in the air. Throughout this intensive, we will go over the risks involved in self-suspension and the measures we can take to mitigate these risks.

Prerequisites: Students should have the ability to tie a non-collapsible single column (e.g. Somerville bowline), understanding of forward and reverse tension, knowledge of half-hitches. Students should have some experience tying suspension-worthy chest and lower body harnesses.

What to bring: A standard suspension kit containing at least eight 25-30 ft long ropes, rigging hardware such as a steel ring and/or climbing-rated carabiners, a climbing sling, and a cutting tool. HB facilitators may have limited extras to share--just reach out.

HB Logistics Note: While we will still make room for floor rope away from the hard points, this self-suspension class will cap at 12 people. Whether this is your first time in a dungeon or a seasoned vet, we invite you to mix and mingle with our thriving community. Our monthly event is  built for discovery, driven by consent and centers around the Black Kinkster experience. We provide the music and vibes, all we need is you!

Every month, The Crucible hosts a class on rope bondage. Topics range from fundamentals to floor work to partial and even full suspension. Details on class topics and recommended supplies are posted as they become available. Doors open at 1:00 PM, class starts at 1:30 PM. Please plan to arrive on time - no admission after 2:00 PM.

Bondage enthusiasts, new tiers, old riggers, self tiers, escape artists, … If you like rope, The Crucible has an event just for you, Crucible Rope Share.

If you are, or want to be a part of, the rope family, you are invited to join in an afternoon of rope education, experimentation, and play. A Rope Share offers a bunch of ways to make a great rope day. If you are new to rope or looking for a new tie, instructors will be on hand to provide hands on instruction and guidance to help you improve your skills. If you have a tie that needs workshopping / experimenting, the instructors and other community members may have the insight to share that helps you find your “ah-ha” moment. If you just need a place to tie, the club is available for your use and enjoyment.

This event is for rope enthusiasts of all skill levels, sexual orientations, gender identities, ages, and race/ethnicity who want to learn about the art of bondage and share their passion for rope with others. Attendees must be Crucible Members or the guest of a member and be 18 years old or older.
